Established in 2007, Matthews Business Associate Services (MBA Services) is a full-service boutique accounting firm located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. While specializing in grant management, audit preparation, systems design/implementation, organizational operations, accounting and bookkeeping for nonprofits; we are equally skilled in handling the bottom-line needs of dynamic entrepreneurs and profit-driven companies as well. 

 

Our niche group focus and commitment have been the bedrock of our growth and viability for over 15 years. We take pride in being well versed in accounting, the common language of business, and are equally proud to speak and understand the language of business professionals; knowing full well their mission and the plans are anything but common. Thus, in addition to traditional hourly bookkeeping, accounting, tax, and consulting support, MBA Services is likewise pleased to offer the following signature programs:

Kelly Matthews

Principal

After working exclusively in the nonprofit arena for over 15 years, Kelly Matthews established MBA Services, LLC in 2007.

As owner and principal, Mrs. Matthews works directly with both nonprofits and for-profit businesses to provide a range of services impacting their financial structure and trajectory. She holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, a BS in Accounting from New England College, a BA in Communication from Seton Hill University, and several certifications. With over 30 years of experience as a Director of Administration, Program Director and Finance Manager; Mrs. Matthews is uniquely qualified to advise on foundational business functions like accounting, administration and marketing of small businesses executing big missions. Mrs. Matthews is a married native Washingtonian with two children and four grandchildren.

Renee Matthews
Principal

As a partner, Mrs. Renee Matthews works directly with both nonprofits and for-profit businesses to provide a wide range of services.

 She currently holds an:

  • MS in Management with a concentration in Nonprofits and Associations (University of Maryland Global Campus),

  • MS in Finance (American University),

  • Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management (University of Maryland Global Campus),

  • BS in Accounting (University of Maryland) and

  • Numerous professional certifications

With over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Renee also serves as Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee for the Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated.
