Founded in 2007, Matthews Business Associate Services (MBA Services) began as a boutique accounting firm on Capitol Hill with a clear mission: to deliver smart, strategic financial solutions that empower organizations to thrive. Today, we’ve evolved into a dynamic, full-service firm led by Founding Partner Kelly Matthews and a team of seasoned professionals who bring deep expertise, innovation, and insight to every engagement.

From our roots in nonprofit financial management—including grant oversight, audit readiness, and operational systems—we’ve expanded our reach to serve entrepreneurs and growth-focused businesses with equal precision. Our approach is collaborative, customized, and grounded in the belief that financial clarity drives strategic success.

Kelly Matthews

Founding Partner

Kelly Matthews is the founding partner of MBA Services, a boutique accounting firm established in 2007 on Capitol Hill. With over 33 years of experience, she specializes in strategic financial management for nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and growth-oriented businesses.

Kelly holds a BS in Accounting, an MS in Administration, and a BA in Communication, along with multiple professional certifications. Her expertise spans grant management, audit readiness, systems implementation, and operational finance—delivering clarity and confidence to clients navigating complex financial landscapes.

She is a Native Washingtonian, proud wife, mother of two, and grandmother to four. Her leadership is grounded in both professional excellence and personal values, driving MBA Services’ mission of Turning Concepts into Capital.

Renee Matthews

Partner

Renee Matthews is a strategic financial expert and partner at MBA Services, where she provides tailored support to both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. With over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Renee brings a deep understanding of mission-driven finance and operational excellence to every client engagement.

Her academic credentials include:

  • MS in Management (Nonprofits & Associations) – University of Maryland Global Campus

  • MS in Finance – American University

  • Graduate Certificate in Leadership & Management – University of Maryland Global Campus

  • BS in Accounting – University of Maryland

  • Plus, numerous professional certifications

 

Renee is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated – Beta Zeta Chapter, reflecting her ongoing commitment to service, leadership, and community impact.

Known for her analytical precision and collaborative approach, Renee helps organizations align financial strategy with long-term sustainability—turning vision into measurable results.
